Pastor Max, a church leader in Iowa, was detained and deported by ICE
agents. In my opinion, deportation should be on a case-by-case basis. Even
though the Pastor had broken immigration laws, being that he is a community and
faith leader, he should be exempt from deportation.
Another matter is the tactics ICE agents used to lure a
parishioner, Reynold Garcia, out into the open and detained him. They used the
cell phone of his cousin to send him a false message about an accident. That
caused Garcia to appear at the church ICE agents were waiting for him. ICE
agents need to be under watch on how they perform their duties.
